One Day Student Introduction to Gifted Education
So your school has got a sound G&T eligibility criteria. You’ve put it in place and have selected which students to place on your register. You’ve informed each student and sent a letter home, you may have even put on some master classes and extra-curricular activity by now, but your students still seem unable to grasp what this actually means for them.
Of the hundreds of students that the GSA works with this is the number one complaint we hear over and over again.
Typical comments from students include:
“No-one’s told me anything”
“I don’t even know what it means to be ‘gifted’”
“It won't really make any difference for me anyway”
This in-school one day introduction will address those issues and more for your students, as well as setting them on the pathway of raising their aspirations and achieving their goals.
The day includes:
- What it means to be ‘gifted’
- What it means for you
- Understanding the school G&T policy
- Exploring the extra opportunities
- Dealing effectively with pressure
- Understanding preferred learning styles
- Raising aspirations
- Introduction of models to help achieve goals
- Introduction to outcome-focussed thinking
